The seat cover seems to

The seat cover seems to have survived. Good to know that until I get a
throwover for it, one shouldn’t sit in it, in white clothes, after the
rain though :-)

Oh dear… a banner ad

Oh dear… a banner ad on Wired… From the Shire… to Shannara - the
magic endures! The legacy of Tolkien lives on in the world of Terry Brooks.

That is such hyperbole! Wondering what the latest incarnation
of the Shannara series is like… I haven’t read any in years, since the last
book in the Scions of Shannara series was released.

Oops. I tried washing the seat in the living room at home today. I put the
cover into a sink of lukewarm water, no detergent. And I’ve never seen anything
run so much!! It must have been a pretty cheap seat, can’t imagine the cover
doing that sort of thing otherwise. Anyway I’m sure it’ll be fine ;-)
Besides that, I also met Dominic and Sara at lunchtime today, it was nice to
see them again :) I’m feeling sort of vaguely sad that I can’t go to their
party tonight - sounds like it could be “fun”. But I’ve promised to go to
another, which hopefully will be fun too!

Yet another time I write

Saturday, October 27th, 2001

Yet another time I write an entry after a comprehensive drinking night
at a late night club. Tonight I would have gone to see American Pie 2
with Stella and Dermot, but times were mixed up, and I didn’t want to see
the alternative; instead, I stayed in Club Life with les CS gang,
and a very good night it was! Well, I spent a lot of the latter part of the
night chatting with Robert about category theory and co-induction (look it
up!!) and topoi and functors (okay that last bit I didn’t get!!). And it all
sounds pretty cool really. He thinks I’m wasted in industry :-)
And earlier on, had a good talk with Linda and Dawn about lots of various
stuff. Dawn actually says that she only knows two guys with a better upper
torso than I have - which sounds nice! I wouldn’t have thought that considering
how little I go to the gym - once ever! But she seems to believe it, and
Linda agrees that my pecs, shoulders and biceps are all pretty nice :) I guess
I might as well believe it…

And earlier on, had a fun night at dance with Sarah, first time back dancing
in so long, must be most of a year at this stage. No, I was probably dancing
last February or March, but not really since then… Anyway, lots of fun,
looking forward to doing it again in a fortnight (yeah Cian’s in a play next
week that I have to go to).

Enough news for tonight. Will go home and sleep some; looks like it’s going
to be a busy weekend ahead!

A definition of secular humanism.

A definition
of secular humanism. Interestingly close to what I actually think I think,
though as it says, humanism spans a large range of thoughts and disciplines.

Chateauneuf du Pape!! Chris said

Chateauneuf du Pape!! Chris said it was a nice bottle of wine, and so is
it is. After all, I had a free dinner for two in the Hilton last night,
so it felt like a good time to pay a bit extra for a pretty nice bottle
of wine… mmm very fun night, didn’t get to bed until about 4am.
