I think the thing I empathised most with is the utter feeling of uselessness
when you come out of the interview, and I rejoiced in telling others how
badly the whole thing went. And the more I thought about the interview, the
worse it seemed. So right now I try not to think about it at all, and plan
to find more interviews to go to!
I just checked out Shazzle’s
weblog. What she said on April 16 about interviews I so totally empathise
with. Oh I really have only gone to one interview so far, but I felt that
it went so hopelessly horribly that there’s no chance in hell that I
could get it. It seemed like I screwed up in almost every part of it, but
maybe I’m just being hard on myself. We’ll see. Next week, I get my CV
out to more recruitment companies, and work hard at getting some job.
Preferably an interesting job, but any job which keeps me in my nice
apartment on the quays will do for the moment.
Stress in the workplace is often caused by a lack of feeling of job control,
according to this article.
This is something that I felt I had, when John worked with me
(I have a great deal of respect for him as a project manager, and as a people
manager too), but it just isn’t present otherwise. Talking about in my
soon-to-be-previous job of course, things will hopefully feel completely
different in another company.
A friend’s viewpoint on my still working for this company:
“in theory” …. then I really don’t know why you’re doing it….
they’re just fucking you over….
This is one of the most depressing days of work since before John
came to work with us. Thank goodness I’m leaving! The vague sense that I’m
never going to get paid for anything I’m doing right now hardly helps.
Another eye-opening quiz,
tells me I haven’t read the Bible end-to-end in a while ![]()

I saw a poster for a Tom Crilly from the Worker’s Party on a “vote for me”
ad tonight! I’d forgotten that that particular political party actually still
existed. Besides that, there’s the usual profusion of shallow soundbites on
all the posters which says quite clearly - Election time!
Currently munching through American Gods by Neil Gaiman, it’s another
interesting and quite possibly fascinating book which casts a more human
aspect upon the gods of mythology. Interesting stuff…
