How Microsoft can use TCPA to deny others the ability to read its file
formats.

TCPA/Palladium FAQ.
Read and weep. An initiative led by Intel, with the backing of Microsoft, to
create a “trusted computing platform” - one which removes control over the PC
from the user, and hands it over to “certified applications” which control what
can be done with the PC. And they’re serious about this. And I’m pretty serious
about not accepting the platform - no TCPA hardware on MY laptop!

It’s been a while! I haven’t been updating here for quite some time. So -
hi again! People have gotten college results, and I’ve gotten a nice new job.
All very happy and content for the moment. It’s a time of change, let all
continue to be good in my life, please.

hear. The Register is a
wonderful irreverent source of news and gossip about important companies, and
they’re often right on the money with their ideas!

Pretty cool… a piezoelectric tennis
racket. And they’re working on skis which operate similarly… they
could eventually be interesting to try out on the slopes!

Over to Sligo for the rest of the weekend, my grandad is quite ill…

Last night was one of the good nights, and I have a hangover to prove it Got an SMS message from Serena (yay, it really was for me)
to head over to oul’ Mahaffys for a drink or five, certainly at least four
pints. Serena, Ian, Lin, Michael, Brady, Eoin… yeah it was fun!

I did head over to the Pav for a few minutes to see if people I knew were
there, but that didn’t quite work out - ah well. Though after there, I
went on to the Long Stone for American Kate’s going-home sayonara night. They
were all just about to go, so I was pretty lucky to catch up with them. And
then we all went to Doyle’s for another drink or two, and some boogying to
some music. All of which was fun! And Kate’s friend was pretty cute

Here’s an interview with Janny Wurts… This is actually the best interview I’ve read in a long time - it may have helped one person I know already to consider reading the series - she lays out all the issues and forces and thoughts acting to produce the wonderful series which is The Wars of Light and Shadow.

I take it back about Stelfox? That time I mailed the guy in the Engineering
division, and he rang me back the day after (this morning) to see if I
considered myself suitable for a different job. And he seems rather
proactive in getting my name put forward for the position. I like that

applied for another job today. Oh I do hope something works out eventually…
