So what’s this about?

Serena? Terry? Lin? What’s going on?

It is nice that you visited my webshit. You can also visit the english url at: http://www.erikvanloon.nl/aue/uk/dublin/dublin.htm

By the way at http://www.erikvanloon.nl you can find other major artworks from me.

?Who are Creative Commons and why do they think that they have the license to distribute my artworks, made by 750 people from all over the world?

    with kind regards,

    Erik van Loon

    Hi Erik,
The Creative Commons initiative is not associated with me in any way - it is a way for people who have the copyright on certain works to waive some of those rights as stated in the linked licence. In the licence on my webpage, other people are given the right to create derivative works based on anything copyrighted by me, as long as I am credited. It cannot be used to give away rights I do not have, and therefore it should have no legal bearing on those images from your site - I should have certainly added a disclaimer that those images were the copyright of their respective owners though.

I’m sorry, I will add a disclaimer, or if you wish, I can also remove the direct links and just link to your site. Actually, now that I think
of it, I will at least remove the direct links as it is an unfair addition of bandwidth usage on your site.

The reason for the links is that those three images in particular were painted by three friends of mine (Serena Corr, Terry Connolly and Lin
Dato Paduka Ali), and I placed a link to those in particular for that reason. Serena drew a lot of Benzene Men when in college :)
One final question however; was the copyright assigned to you or does it remain with the original authors? Just curious :)
Also, I hope you found Dublin interesting, and a worthwhile visit - in spite of your problems with the traffic wardens and your stolen wallet.

    Have a happy new year,
    Gary.
