Pax Americana (at any cost?)

ajc.com | Opinion | Bush’s real goal in Iraq

Why do I feel so much more cynical about world affairs these days? Just following some of the recent history of the US (Vietnam, East Timor, Chile) in a programme last night would have some part to play. As are the analyses of reasons for the policies currently being enacted by the US Administration. Where will it end? I fear that a US-led world will be no more peaceful or fair than any other, and contains within it worrying possibilities for the growth of discontent and anger against the US. But do the US care about that?

I assume this was “The Trials of Henry Kissinger” on RTÉ1, wasn’t it? The thing is, anything that features Henry Kissinger for any length of time tends towards the depressing. The man is a shit. That’s not a reason to condemn the entire US.

I’m sure I can think up a few reasons to condemn the entire US, though :-) .

the man is just plain evil.

unfortunately not much better can be said for the current administration..

I hate my p Resident. I wish the one who was elected was in power.

I’m glad much of the world is stopping supporting him and his grudge against a country whose real crime is defying US power, and getting away with it.
